History and Formation
After the Divine Accord, Mila and Duma both had their own faiths. Rigel had the Duma Faithful, who worshipped the God of Strength. While Zofia had the Followers of Mila, who worshipped the Goddess of Love. While the faiths were divided, they were quite strong, for they existed during the “Era of Gods”. A time where Mila and Duma lived among the people, even if both preferred to remain sequestered within their respective Temples.
After the War of Deliverance, however, when Saint-King Alm I slayed Duma and his father, Emperor Rudolf I of Rigel, slayed Mila and sealed her power into the Divine Falchion, the Era of Gods died with the twin dragons. Despite this their respective faiths were brought together under Hierophant Nomah, and were renamed the “Faith of the Twins”. Rather than preach for the pursuit of personal power over all else, or simply rely on the gods to give all that one needed, instead the Faith of the Twins taught balance.
Balance between earning your place in the world, but to always remember compassion. For Valentia was united, stronger than ever before, and opportunity was to exist for all her people. Ultimately the lesson that the new Faith had to teach was that the power to take hold of one’s life rested firmly in one’s own hands, but that others were encouraged to help when possible.
As centuries passed, even with the God’s Tree serving as proof of Mila and Duma’s existence, the Faith had begun to decline. Shrines received fewer offerings and Priories began to fall empty. Such a high ideology proved too broad and too lofty for the people of Modern Valentia, and the Faith itself has struggled to remain relevant...
